Fatal Wreck Tuesday in Chanute

A Chanute man is dead after a crash yesterday near the K-39 and US-169 intersection. Highway Patrol troopers says 86-year old Edwin Bideau was pronounced dead at Neosho Memorial Medical Center following the crash, which happened yesterday afternoon. According to the crash report, Bideau was southbound on Plummer and ran the stop sign at Cherry Street. That put him in the path of a westbound pickup driven by James McCaffrey of Pierce City, Missouri. The pickup rolled onto its side, injuring McCaffrey. He was also taken to Neosho Memorial with apparently minor injuries. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
