About 40 people attended an hour-long job creation forum Thursday night at the Iola High School lecture hall. The session was moderated my Iola mayor Bill Maness and kicked off by U.S. Representative Lynn Jenkins, who let those in attendance know about the effort that had been put in prior to the public forum.
That earlier meeting was attended by U.S. Representative Jerry Moran and staff members of Senators Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback. Also there was Bruce Tweedy, the executive vice president of a company called Concept Analysis and Integration, a company possibly looking to locate some jobs in Iola. He needed a little help unlocking some federal funding mechanisms and, according to Jenkins, he was going to get it.
Other participants talked about a variety of efforts already underway to recruit a company to fill the void left by the departure of Haldex, and future efforts that may be undertaken.
