Allen County Commissioners have placed a burn ban in effect for the county. They say dangerous conditions continue to exist in the unincorporated areas of Allen County due to excessively dry and windy weather, and that the potential for fires which could cause injuries or property damage has greatly increased.
The ban includes all open burning, and it is in effect as of 12:00 midnight today. There are only two exceptions: those fires in permanent stove or fireplaces or barbeque grills in developed recreational sites or home sites, and Prescribed burning for crop production or grassland management may be conducted with written permission from the Sheriff's office.
The ban is in effect until it is formally removed by the commission.
